The Expat Field Hat was born under the tropical sun.

Living here, I found plenty of beautiful wide-brimmed straw hats... but many came with a problem: they needed to be treated like precious cargo. On an airplane they had to ride on my lap. In a car, the headrest got in the way of the brim. And I couldn't just toss them in my backpack and jump on a bus.

I wanted a different kind of hat.

The hat I needed... and the hat you might need too.

One with a generous, shade rich brim for the intense tropical sun. One that could bend when I leaned back in the car, get crushed into a backpack when I hopped on a bus, and come back ready for the next adventure.

And one that didn't look like an expedition hat when I wasn't on an expedition.
